Movie Watch: Precious

"The Audacity of Precious" As quoted from the New York Times Magazine.

Precious, based off of the novel "Push" by Sapphire is the story of an overweight Harlem teenager who is raped by her father, and is confronted with a series of issues related to her family, friends, etc. as she is growing up.

I was literally on the edge of my seat after reading the novel. I finished the book in a few hours, that's how great i thought it was. And after seeing all the raving reviews all over the web, I almost broke down repeatedly as I thought about how the movie was going to be. So, when I got to the theaters, sat down with my boyfriend, started munching on popcorn, got comfortale, and sat through the whole 2 hours of it, needless to say I was....eh.

Let me start by saying this, the acting in the movie is phenomenal. Both Monique and Gabourey Sidibe deserve Oscars for their performances. They were extremely passionate, moving, and most importantly believable.

But, the downside...I feel like the whole movie is captured in the trailer. Now, some might not agree with me, but if you've seen the trailer for "Precious" AND read the book it's based off of, THEN go to see the movie, you will probably find the acting phenomenal, but you will leave wanting more. I did. The plot was debatedly one of the best I've seen in a very long time, and I won't spoil the ending, but it's something that made me think about the choices or in her case, lack their of, and the consequences of your actions.

I'm curious to know what you all thought...

For the Love of Love

I couldn't help but post this after seeing this picture of JayZ on Necole Bitchie's site. A clear picture of Jay'z's neck with lipstickprints from Beyonce.

What can I say? Ordinarily I wouldn't bother to post on the intimate details, whether they are true or not, of celebs relationships, but the romantic in me couldn't help it!. This pic was taken at the Europe Mtv Awards and probably happened after Beyonce accepted her award stating, "I'd like to thank Jay for putting a ring on it". Oow! Go girl!

Yes! I love PDAs (public displays of affection) and I love it even more because it's Beyonce. I'm not an expert at body language but by the pic below it seems that they're both completely comfortable with each other and dare I say Beyonce looks a little twisted?? Loves it.

Essence cuts 12 - 15 Staff Members

The prominent black magazine, Essence Magazine, has just cut nearly 15 members of their digital team after revamping their website, according to Gawker.com. This doesn't come as a surprise during the recession, but it's always so sad to see such a great magazine that focus on African Americans making cutbacks like this.

I'm praying that unlike some other mags, Essence doesn't wind up in the stream of magazines that are going downhill.

Obama legalizes Marijuana?

Before you get too excited. He's talking about Medical Marijuana which has been legalized in 14 states for patients suffering from specific medical problems. This from the New York Times:

WASHINGTON — People who use marijuana for medical purposes and those who distribute it to them should not face federal prosecution, provided they act according to state law, the Justice Department said Monday in a directive with far-reaching political and legal implications.

In a memorandum to federal prosecutors in the 14 states that make some allowance for the use of marijuana for medical purposes, the department said that it was committed to the “efficient and rational use” of its resources and that prosecuting patients and distributors who are in “clear and unambiguous compliance” with state laws did not meet that standard.

So in other words, don't get too excited. One, it's not for everyone. Two, if you're caught smoking it, you better near your death bed, otherwise you can look forward to jail time.

Solange for Honey Magazine

Solange Knowles is standing strong in her recent spread for Honey Magazine, and I must say her individuality and dare to be different attitude has most recently stood out, and still does. Though I'm still not a huge fan of her short do, I can definitely respect her fresh look and fierce style.

Check out her article here.

Book Read: In the President's Secret Service

Ronald Kessler's, In The President's Secret Service: Behind the Scenes with Agents in the Line of Fire with the Presidents they Protect, is a look behind the scenes of the Secret Service's training, their relations with the President, Vice President, other staff members, and the drastic budget costs that they have been facing.

It's a great book read.

Caribana 2009

This past weekend I headed up to Caribana, the Caribbean Parade that I have been frequenting every year in Toronto, Canada since I was a baby. The vibe is great and the music is infectious. You will see and hear everything from steel pan, to soca/calypso, to reggae.

If you've ever been to any Carnival, you know just how live this event is, and Caribana is one of the biggest ones in the world (there are smaller ones in DC, Miami, and most known New York.) With it's only real competition (my opinion) being Trinidad and Tobago.

Along the parade route you will see masqueradors (people dressed up in costume), large floats, and of course the large trucks blasting music, up and down the parkway.
It's a day of celebration and unity and one not to be missed.

Vivica Fox turns 45

Today is Vivica Fox's birthday. Ain't she bad! Of course! She's a LEO! Vivica A. Fox, a talented actress who has been in popular movies like Set It Off, Two Can Play that Game, to Juwanna Man, and Kill Bill. Most recently, you've seen her in front and behind hte scenes producing her TV Land show, Cougar, where she sets older women up on dates with younger men. She is also known for gracing magazines such as People's Magazine, King Magazine, and Maxim Magazine.

I've always liked her for her acting chops and I've seen quite a few interviews with her and she's always seem real and down to earth. Check out this funny video of when she was on Punk'd w/ Ashton Kutcher.

She turns 45 today.

The Lessons We Learn

As I skate on the line between 22 and 23 years old, I have been forced to deal with some really tough decisions and a few wake up calls that I'm glad I am learning early. It seems once you hit a certain age, the real world really kicks you in the ass. Though I have a lot to be thankful for, I am blessed to be in a position to have a job, a roof over my head, and the ability to support myself. Times get hard, I realize I cannot always do it alone, but I can't run from my problems either, and sometimes you have to turn to God for guidance.

A little prayer of guidance:

"Green pastures are before me, for which i have not seen.
Bright skies will soon be o'er me, where darkest clouds have been.
My hope I cannot measure, my path in life is free.
My Father has my treasure and He will walk with me."

Rising Icon: Chrisette Michele

Chrisette Michele was featured on Rising Icons last night on BET and she looked fabulous as usual! I really like her as an artist, I've listened to both of her cds, I Am and Epiphany, and I can tell she is definitely going to be a big headliner in the near future. Her music is a mix of jazz, soul, and gospel and her voice is crazy! Below is video of her performance.

Brotha of the Week: Trey Songz

I keep saying I'm going to reinstate this weekly! I'm working on it! But for this week, we have Mr. Trey Songz. The picture above from the August '09 issue of Smooth magazine and his new cd Ready comes out September 1st. You can check out his blog: SeeFurtherThanIAm.

He's come a long way from his first single "just gotta make it". Looks like he's made it, and then some.

Deconstructing the model: Black Velveteen

Lenny Kravitz on his song, Black Velveteen:

"Black Velveteen is about technology, and we're getting so pulled in by computers and technology and our kids have their face in the computers all day. We have our face in computers all day and the human relationship is being diminished by this so I figure...why not just create your own mate? And synthesize a human being. You get tired of it, you turn it off and put it in the closet, you know, like the vacuum cleaner. (laughs) You pull it out when you want it. Oh you don't want this one, and then you want, you start, it's probably going to happen one day."

For those of you who aren't familiar with Lenny Kravitz music, "Black Velveteen" was a single off of his 5 album released in 1999. Above is his idea of a black velveteen, the idea of "creating your own mate". I shudder to think that this might actually come true one day, but with technology moving as fast as it does, it seems like this is just around the corner.

What if we could do this?? What would happen to the basis of relationships between a man and a woman?

A few thoughts:

1. The foundation/basis for relationships would be destroyed. There would be no need to have any relationship aside from friendship as you would be able to create you own person to satisfy yourself. And sex is a huge part of a commited relationship, though the "love" aspect would still be there, cheating would probably be inevitable.

2. On the subject of monogamy. What would happen to men? What would happen to women? The argument still stands that being monogamous is going against your bodies natural tendencies. The whole "God didn't put us on this Earth to just be with one" idea. Not to make assumptions, but most men would probably be ok, their dominating and conquering nature might make it easy for them to adjust more than a female. Women on the other hand, we tend to be more emotional, not that we couldn't easily fall in love with the fact that we could choose any man to be with, but once we get emotionally attached, it's a bit harder for us.

3. How does religion play a role? What about the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman? There is really no easy answer to this, but my idea would be that there could be marriage between the two IF they agree to be faithful to each other. But how much harder would that be, if you could have your "black velveteen" at your beck and call. What about if you chose to practice polygamy? Polygamy involves two consenting individuals into taking on more than one mate, and if this practiced, then there would be no need for robotics.

4. We might actually all get along. An up side to having a "black velveteen" is there would probably be less marital disputes, less "hatin" on others, less having to worry about trusting your partner, and more acceptance for everyone's situation.

Bottom line. This is not an easy question to answer. There is always a lot of gray area when dealing with the opposite sex. I would love your opinion on this, as there is no easy answer...

Wendy Williams Leaves Radio

Wendy Williams reported yesterday on her radio show on WBLS in New York that she would be retiring from radio to focus on her new tv talk show, The Wendy Williams show, which airs on Fox, and BET daily.

I'm going to miss her on the radio, I always tuned in for her classic "How You Doin" and to hear her funny anecdotes about celebs. It always seemed like she was more genuine about her feelings than I see on her talk show. But her talk show is funny albeit, a little cheesy at times, and there tends to be a bit of dead air at times, which she often had on her radio show too. I won't compare her to other talk show hosts, since I think she's way too new to the television market. But, she is definitely carving out her place.

Her stint with WBLS lasted seven years, and in that time she was syndicated in many states.

CNN's Black in America 2

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."

- Nelson Mandela

The first part of CNN's Black in America 2 with Soledad O'Brien was quite refreshing. Specifically the Journey for Change segment on Malaak Compton-Rock's efforts to reach out to teenagers at a school in Bushwick, Brooklyn, teach them, and take them out of their comfort zones to South Africa, where they volunteered with HIV-infected adults, and worked with orphans.

The 12 to 13 kids selected were documented sharing their experiences on being there and what it meant for them.

See that video here.

The best thing that I witnessed was how, in Malaak Compton-Rock's words, the children were becoming "global citizens". Her mission was to teach them to become well aware of the world that we are living in, the importance of giving back to their communities, and how they can apply those attitudes in the development of their future.
I think it was a success.

The Dont's of the Dos: Solange shaves her head

So this morning as I'm strolling through my usual sites, I see this picture up on Bossip of Solange Knowles with a shaved head. I don't like it. I'm hoping that when she does a video and really dresses up and fixes it properly my opinion will change, because this picture is not the best! I love the fact that she has an eclectic style and tries to embrace her natural beauty. And i'm sure she wanted a "change", or "remix", or "upgrade", but honestly some people just look better with hair on there head. Plain and simple.

Ever since Cassie shaved off half of her head it seems as if the world has gone into shaved crazy...the list now includes: Amber Rose, Cassie, Lala Vasquez, Rihanna, and Solange. Please let me know who I've left out. I can't say I'm really diggin it either. These stunts fall a little short in the originality category to me. And this is what tends to happen with trends in general. One will do a funky new look to stand out, then everyone attempts to outdo the funky and be FUNKY FRESH...but they end up looking like they're just in a funk. *whomp whomp*

It seems to me that this "look" really took off after Kelis's Bossy video hit tv, but I know many will say that when punk rock and rap began to merge, the hair really came out. Yet, even before her, there were plenty of these styles running rampant. *News flash*, not everyone can do it.

Not being a hater, just not in compliance.

Take a look at these celebs:

Lala Vasquez & Cassie..I admit, I think LaLa can pull it off better.

Rihanna...

Amber Rose with her buzz...

and... Kelis

Christian Louboutin Platform Pumps

Now on sale for $474.60....i'm in love. My birthday's coming up...who wants to treat me?

An Ode to the Black Woman

I ran across this article in Clutch Magazine written by Alaina Lewis, and thought it was something worth repeating. Below are a few highlights that I loved, but you can read the entire article HERE.

Ode to the Black Woman

"We are not here to please the masses, we are here to exist apart from a myriad of circumstances that fight to cripple our existence. We’re not here to offend, fit in, or follow your lead, we exact a trail of our own making and find solace in being leaders even when the plan is still a mystery. We don’t stand to deliver your ideals to life, we mark our territory with our own point of view. We don’t care what people think of us, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. We’re not here to alter anyone’s perception because we know the world is ours for the making as long as we’re here to live in it.

The Black Woman, is a strong woman, born to be a fighter, and bred to win. We are remarkable in every fraction of our being, and hold a posture that’s unmistakable when you’re amidst our will and determination to succeed.

Our resilience and drive make us one of a kind fighters and completely irreplaceable by anyone’s means. We are Black Woman, dynamic in nature and should be regarded in high esteem. Here’s to the Black Woman and the road that you’ve taken, and the smile the sometimes gets forsaken, I applaud you for your efforts; they broke the mold when they made you."

Where Creativity and Foolishness Meet: The Music Video

I appreciate good videos.

I can appreciate Common, Maxwell, Musiq Soulchild, Erykah Badu... all artists who put effort into their music videos and seemingly, their music. Even Kanye, with his eclectic style of music, will make 2 or 3 music videos...if not to be different, at least to be happy.

Now as a disclaimer, this post is NOT about the "video girls" in videos, because as a realist, I understand that some songs are clearly for the club and you're going to throw in some "eye candy". But as a whole when the music video does not match the SONG, regardless to what type of music it is - Rap, R&B, Rock, Pop, Alternative, you name it - it's a train wreck to me.

Generally speaking, the lackluster performance and thought, or lack thereof, that goes into music videos these days is really unforgiving. Especially when we have the technology to really do big things. And I'm not discriminating. I'm pretty tired of seeing Beyonce dance around in spandex and pumps for the entire video. It was cute when she first did it for Diva, but Single Ladies, and Ego too? Do something different.

Look at some songs that had the videos to match:

COMMON - Come Close

MUSIQ SOULCHILD -

ALICIA KEYS - Love me like you'll never see me again

These are just a FEW, but the point is if you put some thought into your music, you SHOULD put some thought into your videos. *Note to the artists: Videos can sell what the music doesn't.

But to each his own...and to each his own opinion, so share yours.

Why do we Judge her? Karrine Steffans

This is Karrine Stefans on the Today Show promoting her new book, The Vixen Manual: How to Find, Seduce, and Keep the Man You Want. Lol @ the two women's faces while interviewing her!

So Karrine, otherwise known as Superhead, was the one in everyone's mouths (no pun intended)when she came out with her first book, dishing on celebrities and their freaky ways. Everyone dismissed her as the slut, whore, bitch who was taking someone's man and made every other woman look bad. I thought that too.

My problem? I judged her (past tense), just like most people did and still do.

My opinion? People are upset because she turned her "slutty" ways into a six figure book deal writing about what she's learned from her mistakes while playin the field. That's it. Doesn't sound much different then any other relationship self help book on the market, except she had some crazy experiences with some high profile people. She was a young woman who didn't know much about men, love, or respect for one's self. She grew up, did some self-reflection, wrote about it and got paid.

I hear a lot of women saying, why would I take advice from someone like her? or What she's saying, I already know. So what? Number one, if you read excerpts from her first book, Confessions of a Video Vixen, read it online, or went out and bought it, you're just as bad. Because all that book did was to reintroduce back in the game by telling everyone who she slept with. That's my only problem with her, she doesn't know how to be discreet, but even that I think she's learned, as you can see in the video. . .Number two: Don't front! I'm sure there are some real funny storeis and "how to illustrations" in the book that you and your girls can laugh too. You don't have to buy the book to learn something, you CAN just simply read it for entertainment.

A lot of tv and radio stations talked about her first book. And the reality is , both Confessions and the Vixen Diaries made it to the New York Times bestseller list, so whether or not you like it, you're opinion still makes her famous. What's the saying? All publicity is good pubilcity?

Ultimately, judging her is part of a larger problem, the catiness and judgement women have towards each other. But i'll save that for another post. She's making more paper than me, and probably most of you in her real life version of sex and the city. So respect her hustle, don't judge a book by it's cover.

BlackSummersNight

Yea I'm diggin Maxwell right now. This is an old picture of him...what can I say, I miss his hair, but his new cd is pretty awesome. I've always been a fan of Maxwell for his mix of classic soul and heartfelt lyrics, and this cd is no different. My favorite tracks are: Bad Habits, Pretty Wings, Fistful of Tears, and Love You.

The only thumbs down is that there are only nine songs! Geez! I want more of Maxwell's creative genius! But the cd itself is a steal, i only paid 9.00 dollars at Target...and it throws back to the old school with the lyrics of each song on the inside cover! Very few ARTISTS...key word...do that these days.

Buy it!

As I sit....

So in my quest to evaluate and reevaluate my life, i'm having one of those rock and a hard place moments. I feel like I want to try EVERYTHING, like seriously, I want to be a producer, writer, psychologist, dancer, makeup artist, singer, lawyer, shit everything! But I have a job, and a great one at that, working on a television show. So...*all smiles*....right?

Wrong. I'm feeling for a change, time to switch up again and go in a different direction. I don't necessarily like working in a cubicle all the time, and I'm kind of getting tired of this 9 to 5 business. BUT i have a job in my field of study, journalism...which i got right out of school...and it's been paying my bills. So i dont have any right to complain...

Ugh, anybody have this problem? It's pretty selfish of me to want more, when some people don't have anything. But, maybe a change of scenery is needed, or an additional job to pass the time, because after a year of working at the same place.. it's time for a switch to a different industry. I think if everyone alternated what they did for a living every couple months or every couple years, we would all learn so much about life in general and it would be a great way to meet people who you probably wouldn't encounter on a daily basis. So.. Fashion perhaps? Entertainment? Medicine? Shit, why settle when you can have it all?

Contending with the Man in the Mirror

As I watched the heartfelt tribute poured out by fans and family alike at Michael Jackson's memorial today. One of the things that made me the most proud was World Humanitarian Award that Rep. Jackson Lee honored him with. I wish he could be alive to see it. The life and time of MJ will always be remembered through his songs, his words, and his performances. But we fail to remember that throughout all that, Michael lived a life of dedication and compassion for others.

His list of charities and organizations include: AIDS Project L.A. , American Cancer Society
Angel Food, Big Brothers of Greater Los Angeles, BMI Foundation, Inc., Brotherhood Crusade
Brothman Burn Center, Camp Ronald McDonald, Childhelp U.S.A., Children's Institute International, Cities and Schools Scholarship Fund, Community Youth Sports & Arts Foundation
Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), Dakar Foundation, Dreamstreet Kids, Dreams Come True Charity, Elizabeth Taylor Aids Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Love Match, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Minority Aids Project, Motown Museum, NAACP, National Rainbow Coalition...and the list goes on. You can see it here: http://www.allmichaeljackson.com/charities.html

So in these past two hours, i've learned two things. One, I think it's time to make a change. Not a physical change, not a spiritual change, but a change in the way I give back while I'm here. True, I don't have the financial ability to do as much as MJ, but maybe one day I will. Until then, you do what you can to help your family, friends, and total strangers, as Michael did. And two, you should appreciate people while they are ALIVE.

He was a universal household name, an icon. He touched lives worldwide and he was a brilliant man for who he was, while taking on the burden of sharing his gift with the world. This should be a wake up call to everyone, to not waste your talent, and never waste your gift.

I may sound like i'm preaching, but so what. Sometimes you have to ask yourself, can I contend with the man in the mirror?

RIP ~~ Michael Jackson

Vibe Magazine to Shut Down

Wow...Vibe magazine has been one of those magazines that I and many others grew up on. It seems that the recession is still so real and so very sad.

This from Gawker

"Vibe Magazine—one of the biggest music magazines in America—is folding. The entire music magazine landscape is full of the dead and dying.

The recent dead include Radio and Records, Performing Songwriter, and Blender. Vibe probably had the most demographically diverse readership of any major music magazine. Now, the hip hop magazine world is ruled by the shaky Source and XXL, with strong online competition; the trade music sector is still topped by Billboard, incredibly shaky as well; the pop music mag sector is ruled by Rolling Stone, which is a shell of its former self; and Spin, Fader, Paste, and everyone else are just trying to protect their own audiences from the free, and many times much better, online intruders. Hard times."

Music is having a horrible week.

Rick Ross f/ John Legend: Magnificent

National Museum of African American History and Culture

There is an African American museum coming to DC...

This from BlackVoices:

"Smithsonian Institution jury selected the team Freelon Adjaye Bond, in association with SmithGroup, from six finalists in a design competition to build the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

The crown concept, which would allow natural light to flow into the structure through bronze screens, was inspired by images from African and American history, Adjaye said, "this idea of uplifted praise sort of imagery."

The design process will take up to three years and is subject to approval from groups that oversee architecture in the nation's capital. Construction is expected to begin in 2012, with an opening slated for 2015."
This is great news. Click here to read the whole story.

Cassie Goes Half and Half

This picture is from TMZ. I absolutely hate this hairstyle on her. I have no idea why she chose to do it. It's ridiculous. When she twittered this Saturday and showed the pics, my first thought was why? My second thought was...this has Diddy written all over it. SMH.

Cassie's a beautiful girl, but somehow this just seems like a very orchestrated, publicity stunt or peer pressure from the "bosses" to change her image. I mean, it's not like she came out with the punk rocker steez and that's her gimmick. She's a love song, Pop/R&B singer. Is she just going to switch up her whole style now? What about when she wears dresses or wants to put her hair in a ponytail? ...lol...The more important question is when did punk become the new hip-hop/R&B? Everyone is tryin to get on it nowadays. Shame.

These type of hairstyles are not equal opportunity. Thoughts?

Hater Happenings: Glenn Beck & Fox News

A conspiracist killed three officers because he thought Obama was going to take away his guns and the end of the world was near... From Media Matters.com:

"After a night of drinking, followed by an early-morning argument with his mother, with whom he shared a Pittsburgh apartment, 22-year-old Richard Poplawski put on a bulletproof vest, grabbed his guns, including an AK-47 rifle, and waited for the police to respond to the domestic disturbance call his mother had placed. When two officers arrived at the front door, Poplawski shot them both in the head, and then killed another officer who tried to rescue his colleagues.

In the wake of the bloodbath, we learned that Poplawski was something of a conspiracy nut who embraced dark, radical rhetoric about America. He was convinced the government wanted to take away his guns, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. Specifically, Poplawski, as one friend described it, feared "the Obama gun ban that's on the way" and "didn't like our rights being infringed upon." (FYI, there is no Obama gun ban in the works.) The same friend said the shooter feared America was "going to see the end of our times."

This is from Eric Boehlert's story entitled: Glenn Beck and the rise of Fox News' militia media.
Please read the full story HERE.

This was another tragedy that happened recently because of the hatred that Glenn Beck and other FOX news "analysts" have been spewing. This kind of shit is horrible and very similar to the Adkisson church-shooting case in Knoxville, Tennessee. When will these tv personalities realize that words really matter. SMH.

Chilli: New Spokeswoman for Dasani

In my 90 day get my sexy back gym kick, I've been drinking ALOT of water... in hopes of my skin looking like this!! Chilli, who NEVER ages, is the new spokeswoman for Dasani water. I swear she looks the same way she did when TLC first came out years ago.

Mind you she rarely wears makeup, and I'm sure whatever she has on is very light.

King Magazine To End in April

Wow. The recession is real. King Magazine doesn't have the funds to keep their magazine going. Their last issue is April 21st.

Are you upset the magazine is ending? Or do you think their will be another "King" type magazine on the shelfs soon?
And what about the way the King portrays women? Maybe it's not so bad to do away with the mag...thoughts?

Solange - T.O.N.Y

Buy It or Burn It: The Dream ~ Love Vs. Money

So my first edition of Buy or Burn It is dedicated to the Dream's new album: Love Vs. Money...my thoughts? Burn it.

Out of the ... tracks on the album, I only liked about 4:

#2 - Rockin that Thang (which is actually Rockin that Shit...why does he have to cuss?)
#8. - Love vs. Money or it might be
#9. - Love vs. Money Part II (don't remember which)
#10 - Fancy
#14 - Let me see ya booty (which umm...I really don't like that much, but I'm sure if I heard it in the club I'd be shaking my ass too it so *shrug*)

I thought this album was purely commercial and very repititive. Literally most of the beats are the same throughout the ENTIRE album. He needs to switch it up. Sure they're catchy and very club-type songs but I don't want an entire album full of that.
His first album was one I could listen too all the way through and it had a good mix of fast and slow songs. This one...not so much.
Did anyone else listen to it?

Lady's Laughables: B Scott's Workout Plan

I am incoporating this into my daily routines!!! lmao

Hater Happenings: Tammy Bruce

Tammy Bruce is guest host for Laura Ingram's radio show. She also has her own radio show in LA. She decided to call out Michelle Obama "trash" in the white house.

Here's her quote:

"...You know what we've got? We've got trash in the White House. Trash is a thing that is colorblind, it can cross all eco-socionomic...categories. You can work on Wall Street, or you can work at the Wal-Mart. Trash, are people who use other people to get things, who patronize others, who consider you bitter and clingy..."

Listen to the clip:

Did Tammy miss the point of what Michelle Obama was saying to the kids? Of course she did. So after listening to this I was just going to write her off as a racist, but since I had never really heard of her I looked at her website: http://tammybruce.com/

This was one of things in her biography: She was drawn into feminist activism in the late 1980's to contribute to the ongoing effort to ensure safe and legal abortion for all women, and with a special focus on violence against women and ending international subjugation of women.

Keyword: Subjugation...soo, what's her definition. Because trash talking and belittling a woman is definitely a form of mental conquering, enslaving, etc. SMH. Its ridiculous that everybody's beliefs go out the window when it's time to get on TV or the radio to make a little money.

Beyonce VS. Ciara --- Swagga Like Me

On Bossip, I noticed a story about how Ciara could possibly be "swagger - jackin" Beyonce. Her new video w/ Justin shows some veeery similar moves to Beyonce's in the past. See the pic below taken from the Bossip website.

Ok, now what if she was? You can't deny Ciara has moves and can dance. Some may argue that she's better than Beyonce. Who do you think is hotter? Is it even worth mentioning that Ciara might be pullin off some Beyonce stunts or are dance moves pretty non original now anyway? Who would you choose?

Discuss..
